From DTC’s Website (cached on the Internet Archive Wayback Machine)

DTC Data Technology was founded in 1979 to design, develop, and market intelligent storage controllers used primarily in connection with IBM compatible personal computers. It is through these controllers that personal computers communicate with external devices such as disk drives, CD-ROMs, scanners, tape drives, video conferencing cameras, printers, and mice.”

This chips function is currently unknown, but I may be able to figure it out in the future.

Disclaimer:

Due to how these wafers were stored before I acquired them, all may have small scratches or other imperfections. None of the wafers are in perfect condition.

Displaying Silicon Wafers:

In addition to being wonderful specimens to view under a microscope, silicon wafers can make great display pieces. See “Note about handling Silicon Wafers” down below for more information about how to handle them if you are unsure.

If you choose to display your wafer, there are a few options you can take. One option is to install the wafer into a shadow box picture frame. Another option is to use a sturdy stand that would firmly hold the wafer in place, and prevent it from easily being nocked over.

Shipping:

All wafers have been washed by hand, dried, and placed into a plastic zip-lock bag. The bag is then taped to a piece of rigid foam board. The wafer/foam board is then wrapped in bubble wrap, and packaged into a box. If multiple wafers are ordered at the same time, wafers will be stacked on top of each other and taped to a single piece of rigid foam.

Note about handling Silicon Wafers:

Silicon wafers are very fragile and can break if not handled properly. Never try to flex or bend a silicon wafer, as it will shatter. In the unlikely event that the wafer has broken during shipment, if possible, do not remove it from the bag. Broken silicon wafers are extremely sharp and can easily cut you, not to mention the small shards that can become lodged into your skin if you touch them.

Note: orders with excessive quantities of silicon wafers will be canceled and refunded. This policy is in place to ensure that as many people as possible have an opportunity to purchase a wafer.
